Ryan helps clients across industries build and bolster their executive teams. In his years with SPMB, Ryan has contributed to the success of over 100 searches for roles in management, sales, marketing, engineering, product, operations and finance, among others. His experience translates into an understanding of industry, markets, technology and functions allowing him to intelligently assess clients, critically evaluate candidates, and efficiently cycle projects.
Ryan was hired as an Analyst in the firm’s Clean Technology practice. The practice focused on venture stage companies working within technologies such as solar, battery, bio-fuel/chemical, building material, geothermal, smart grid, and lighting. Ryan drove the research and evaluation of markets, technologies, companies and executives.
Promoted to an Associate in 2010, Ryan added our firm’s Enterprise Software and Hardware practice to his repertoire and focused on cloud computing, big data, mobile, and infrastructure software and hardware technologies. He perfected his skills in research and segmenting industries, and also led the outreach efforts in recruitment.
Ryan was promoted to a Director in 2013 after consistently demonstrating his ability to run searches independently.
Ryan joined the firm after graduating from the University of California Santa Barbara with a degree in Business Economics in 2007.
What are you passionate about?
Backpacking, fishing, photography, philosophy, economics, investing, emerging trends, technology, whisk(e)y, theoretical physics.
Where have you traveled and where would you still like to go?
I plan to travel to New Zealand and walk the Lord of the Rings trail to Mordor and hike to the top of Mount Doom.
What character in Game of Thrones are you most like?
Can’t keep track of all the names…I’d like to have dragons though.
Who would you trade places with for one month?
Someone homesteading in the Alaskan bush.
Which three words would you use to describe yourself?
Thoughtful, kind, and honest.
What’s the most non traditional job you’ve ever had?
Working at a Christmas tree farm.
