Samantha joined SPMB in 2017 as an Associate. She is part of Jon Landau’s growing Denver/Boulder-based Rocky Mountains Search Practice. Prior to joining SPMB, Samantha spent five years with Chicago-based CEO Search Partners, a boutique retained executive search firm specializing in Food and Beverage/Consumer Packaged Goods. One of Samantha’s proudest accomplishments there was expanding the firm’s practice into consumer-centric technology and software.
Samantha grew up in Saratoga Springs, NY. She graduated with a BA in History from The College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Massachusetts. In early 2017 Samantha moved to Boulder, Colorado after spending five years in Chicago. Samantha’s parents are wondering if she will just keep moving further west– Honolulu office, anyone?
Outside of work, Samantha enjoys spending time outdoors, whether its running, cycling, skiing, or hiking with her Border Collie, Annie. Samantha moved to Boulder for the outstanding trail-running, and has completed races at the 100 mile, 100 kilometer, 50 mile, 50k, and marathon distances.
What is the one thing people would be surprised to know about you?
I am very introverted (despite working in search!), but I am also very competitive and driven. I really enjoy listening to people and learning what makes them tick, but I also like to win. With recruiting, it works! Full disclosure, in my free time I am either training for my next big race or curled up on couch with a book or movie. I like to live my life in two extremes.
Which band would you love to tour with?
Hands down, I’d time travel back to the mid-to-late 1960s and tour with Led Zeppelin. I have named two Border Collies after Led Zeppelin songs: Kashmir and Annie, as in, “Hey fellas have you heard the news?/ You know that Annie’s back in town” from Heartbreaker. I keep joking that the next one will just be named Black Dog.
What’s the most non traditional job you’ve ever had?
In college I had a summer internship with an organization called Abby’s House that provides shelter, long-term housing, and advocacy for homeless and battered women and their children. Part of the internship involved staffing their emergency overnight shelter a few evenings a week. It was a very eye-opening experience with many highs and lows. I learned a lot, and am very appreciative of that summer.
What sports star would you most like to meet?
Tom Brady, the GOAT. He doesn’t even have to say anything to me, I’d just like to get a look at that handsome face in person. My Dad grew up in Boston– we are die hard Red Sox and Patriots fans.
